When I tell people I grew up on a farm in Kansas as far from the ocean as one can be in the States, they often ask me how I became interested in and to love sailing. I tell them it was my mother’s fault. (Always blame your parents!) She used to read me Golden Books before I could read. My favorite was The Sailor Dog. It’s about a little dog who longs to go to the ocean and explore the world by sailboat. That must have planted the seed that led to a full blown addiction to sailing and traveling the world by sailboat.
